installing rope deck railings. so in tensioning the wire ropes installed on your railing, consider the spacing of the posts, the spacing of the ropes, the material for the top rail cap and the tension of the ropes. step 4 spacing the ropes the spacing between the ropes is essential in keeping rope deflection at a minimum.
drill holes in the deck posts on both the front and back sides where you wish to attach the rope. you might want to place rope along the top handrail and bottom of the railing. measure the distance from the top of the post to the holes so that they are consistent across the railing.
i'm not sure why the word 'rope swing' is in the title, since it's just a sample piece of deck material. and at 12' x 5.25' it's not quite wide enough to make a rope swing from it, so i'm using it as a shelf on my desk. but i wanted to comment on the quality of the piece in terms of it's intended use, for decks.
make two parallel cuts down the center of the board to be replaced, and remove the center piece. remove the remaining pieces of decking from the tabs. using a claw hammer, bend the tab on the side of the board with the screw heads showing. bend it downward so that it does not interfere with the spacer tab.
