full pieces finish out each row and the cut offs get trimmed for the last end. repeat full, 2/3, 1/3 to fill the room. this gives staggered joints and the least amount of waste. just use the last board the cut off on the first row as the start of the second row.
arrange planks for the next row. select different length planks so that no joints match. ideally, each joint should be at least 16 inches from the previous one. set the cut end that no longer has a tongue or groove at either end of the row as long as the piece is longer than 12 inches.
