re: proper screws for vinyl siding i agree with bill and j. staples have been proven to have superior wind resistance when used with vinyl siding in the lab and in the field. but they have to be properly installed. that proves to be the difficult part. too tight and you pinch the siding or break the nail slot, wrong angle and you pin it.
